Athletic Information
St. Lucas believes athletics is an integral part of the educational curriculum. Our Christ-centered program is designed to help develop a child's mind, physical abilities, spiritual awareness, and social interactivity.

Our goal is to develop a child into a mature, young Christian through good sportsmanship. The ideals of team play, understanding of rules, cooperating with authority, appreciation of coaches and facilities, learning self-discipline, loyalty, pride, and respect will produce positive results. We need to prayerfully thank our Lord, Jesus Christ, who enables us to continue each day.

A child will develop the fundamental skills at the 5-6 grade level through active participation. It is our goal to give all members at the 5-6 grade level a chance for meaningful participation in games and practices. Athletes will continue to develop their skills at a more competitive level at 7th and 8th grade. Because the focus of the 5th & 6th grade is participation and the focus of the 7th & 8th grade is competition, playing time may vary according to the player's ability level and effort in practice.

Participating in athletics is entirely voluntary and a privilege. As a Lutheran Elementary School, St. Lucas applies Christian attitudes to athletics. I Corinthians 6:20 tells us, "You were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body." I Corinthians 3:16-17 and 10:31 speak these words, "Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him; for God's temple is sacred, and you are that temple. Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." We must remember that as God's children, parents, students, and coaches will use these opportunities to reflect the love of their Savior.
