Throughout Scripture, God refers to believers as a family. That is more than metaphor. This is God calling a new reality into existence, just like he did when he said let there be light. When God speaks, reality results. Our privilege and responsibly is to seize the power given us through our baptism and live out that reality. We are called by Christ to show the same level of love and self-sacrifice that we would show to biological kin.
Our Welcome Home Weekend scheduled for October 18-20 will be a celebration of this reality. The services and events planned for the weekend will thank God for giving us a spiritual family and a spiritual home. Our intent is to make this weekend into something of a spiritual family reunion. We want to have 100% of our St. Lucas family attend at least one service, and, if they can, one of the fellowship events. Why? Because God has told us we are family. And when God speaks, reality results.
Please look over the schedule of events on right and RSVP for the events your family will be attending. This will help us with planning, and will help us make sure we have reached our entire membership.
If you would like to help with the weekend’s events there are opportunities to help set up, serve food, and donate desserts. Look for sign up sheets in the church entryway.
